Founded by Quyen and Hiền, Việt Hoa was originally established as a small canteen providing affordable authentic food for Vietnamese refugees who escaped the communist regime in Vietnam.

Back in the day, our regular patrons were mainly compatriots as one can tell but the rich and mysterious scent of Vietnamese cooking escaping our doors got food enthusiasts of Shoreditch curious about the origin of this then new fragrance to London. Soon enough, Viet Hoa became the go-to place for good honest Vietnamese food.

With our reputation growing, long lines started to form outside our shop and it didn’t take long before our neighbours got involved in the movement. Shop after shop, the infamous “Pho Mile” started to take its present day form around Viet Hoa, but we had the honour of introducing these flavours to London first!
